Leveraging more than three decades of excellence in information technology, cloud convergence and cybersecurity, Mr. Rao has earned distinction as the chief strategy and impact officer for Verge Technologies Inc. Since 2016, he has focused his efforts on helping to build the company as the world’s preeminent cloud convergence provider. Through the company’s projects, Mr. Rao engages in efforts to address database outages comprehensively, leveraging his background in cybersecurity and pioneering cloud convergence, becoming the first in the world to offer a hybrid cloud and multicloud solution. Additionally, he has been a judge and mentor with Texas MassChallenge since 2018 and Exponential Organization (ExO) champion since 2014. Before his current role, Mr. Rao began his career as a systems engineer for CAE Inc. in 1985 and became a senior optical test engineer for Nortel Networks Ltd. in 1992. He was promoted to a repair process engineering manager in 1994 and took a role as a product marketing manager for Schlumberger Smart Card and Payment Terminals in 1996, earning a promotion to the marketing director of strategic alliances and financial market in 1998. Following this time, he was the chief marketing officer and vice president of strategic alliances and project management for USIS America Inc. in 1999.
Mr. Rao continued his career as the chief operating officer for the Motion Pixel Corporation in 2010, also serving as the co-founder, chief operating officer and board member for HumaniTV Inc. from 2012 until 2016. During this period, he also was the managing partner for Maple International Marketing Corporation from 2003 until 2022.
Added to these, Mr. Rao served as the chief operating officer, chief marketing officer and vice president of strategic alliances and partnerships for Axelo Inc. from 2007 until 2022, playing a key role in the company’s outstanding achievement of winning the Chase Innovation Award in 2013. This underscored the company’s groundbreaking patent, which was developed for the detection and monitoring of traumatic brain injuries in football and ice hockey athletes, as well as in individuals with military service-related injuries. He also worked in investment strategies for the GroHomes Corporation and NVolve Technologies in 2016 and was a strategic business advisor for Rectify in 2018 for four years.
Having experience in both the military and commercial sectors, Mr. Rao held NATO secret clearance for his work on the P3CN project for the Dutch Navy, which involved developing an aircraft capable of engaging submarines beneath the water’s surface. He also managed the Canada, United States and Caribbean Financial markets for Schlumberger Smart Cards and Payment Terminals, successfully building its revenue to $50 million.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Rao earned a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from Concordia University in Canada in 1984. Following this achievement, he attained a master’s degree in electrical engineering with a focus on telecommunications from the same institution in 1993. Well-qualified in his field, he is a certified professional engineer.
Looking to the future, Mr. Rao intends to create a subscription model for the database platform as a service (DBPaaS) offered by Verge Technologies Inc. As part of his work, he and his colleagues are commencing collaboration with Fortune 100 Technology company and have an ongoing partnership with major USA Banks, with an impending partnership set to begin with Fortune 100 USA Bank next year. He is also leading transition within the federal education system, advocating for a shift from STEM to STEAMS to encompass science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics and sports, firmly believing that incorporating arts and music into the curriculum can foster innovation, creativity and provide balance with right and left brain. This idea was initially fostered during his education at Loyola High School in Montreal – private boys catholic high school run by the Jesuits.
Looking also to the future, Mr. Rao would like to establish a High Touch Foundation to help global collaborative Non Profit Organizations (NPO’s), benefit corporations and impact corporations to create a sustainable model to exponentially grow their business. High Touch Foundation exists to foster the evolution from outdated business and philanthropy models to thriving ecosystems that purposely and sustainably benefit all humanity.
