College football fans will reportedly get a behind-the-scenes look at the SEC during the 2024 season.

Seth Emerson and Andrew Marchand of The Athletic reported Thursday that the conference and Netflix are “closing in on a deal” for a docuseries that will capture the upcoming campaign much in the same way Drive to Survive and Full Swing do for Formula 1 and the PGA Tour, respectively, on the streaming platform.

It will certainly be a season to watch in the SEC.

For one, the league is attempting to get the national championship back. Michigan won the title last season and became the first non-SEC team to do so since Clemson accomplished the feat during the 2018 campaign.

There are also the storylines that come with conference realignment, as the 2024 season will be the first for powerhouse programs Texas and Oklahoma in the league. The Longhorns and Sooners dominated the Big 12 for years but will now get to test themselves in the same conference that features Georgia, Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss and others.

They will also represent a new challenge for the existing teams.

The 2024 campaign will also be the first with a 12-team College Football Playoff. That means more SEC teams will realistically be pursuing championship chances than in past years, while the usual candidates such as Georgia and Alabama can survive a loss or two and still make it.

Georgia could be the No. 1 team in the country to start the season and would surely be a featured part of the docuseries, although Emerson and Marchand noted the Bulldogs haven’t made a decision about whether they will be included.

According to the report, teams will have the ability to either opt in or out of the project. Those who do opt in are expected to have at least some control over access and what is aired.

While that could impact some of the tone and topics that are presented, it will still be another avenue for fans to seek out behind-the-scenes content for a highly anticipated college football season.
