Houston, TX – WEBWIRE – Friday, January 26, 2024

Robin Reed Riggle, a distinguished fourth-generation Californian with a profound family legacy tied to Mt. Baldy, Southern California, brings her extensive experience and passion for education to the forefront in her book, “Conquer the Classroom: How to Manage Your Students, Your Administration, and Yourself.” A seasoned educator with a background in art education, she draws from her journey to navigate the challenges faced by teachers, offering valuable lessons and strategies for not just surviving but thriving in the demanding field of education.

“Conquer the Classroom” takes readers on a journey through the highs and lows of an educator’s life, offering a candid exploration of the author’s challenges and triumphs. She paints a clear picture of the hurdles faced when her professional life took an unexpected turn, leading to administrative leave and a publicized controversy. The book looks into the emotional turmoil, isolation, and relentless pursuit of justice, providing readers with a narrative that reflects the harsh realities teachers may encounter.

Robin Riggle’s book aims to shed light on the often-overlooked struggles faced by educators, emphasizing the need for empathy, understanding, and strength. Through meaningful excerpts, such as the powerful quote by Kalen Dion, “Darling, you’re not falling apart, you’re getting rid of the pieces that no longer serve your purpose. This is surgery of the spirit and it can be painful as hell.”

The phrase teaches us that moments of emotional or spiritual upheaval should not be perceived as a breakdown but rather as a necessary process of self-transformation. It encourages the perspective that letting go of aspects of ourselves that no longer contribute positively to our well-being is akin to undergoing spiritual surgery. Although the process may be agonizing, the pain is a sign of growth and healing, illustrating the essential nature of shedding the old and making room for a healthier, more purposeful self. This message emphasizes resilience, self-discovery, and the understanding that discomfort can be a crucial step toward personal evolution.

“Conquer the Classroom” is not just a book; it’s a lifeline for educators facing the tumultuous waters of their profession. Her writing is an impassioned plea for acknowledgment and support for teachers, offering practical strategies for managing the complexities of classroom dynamics and administrative pressures. Robin Reed Riggle is a fourth-generation Californian who has lived just about half of her life in Mt. Baldy, a tiny village in Southern California. She and her husband, Alan, raised their grown daughter, Ashley, there. The K-8 Mt. Baldy School has been a focal point of Robin’s life for generations. Her grandfather, Howard Pruitt, was one of the first eight students to attend when it was established in 1921. Later, Robin’s mother and aunt attended there. Then her mother, Diane Pruitt Reed, began her thirty-plus year career as a first-grade teacher at the little two-room school. Robin’s first venture into teaching was as a parent volunteer at Mt. Baldy School while Ashley attended.

Gaining confidence in the classroom, Robin became a teacher’s aide and later a substitute teacher. After subbing at Mt. Baldy School and the Upland Unified School District for six years, she wanted her own classroom. Robin holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in illustration from C.S.U., Fullerton. She earned her single subject in art teaching credential and Master of Education degree from the University of La Verne. Robin also earned her 200-Hour Yoga Teacher and SEL Certification through Breathe4Change. She has taught art to high school and middle school students for the past fifteen years and loves to help them find their creative style. Robin and her husband love camping, hiking, gardening, and visiting their daughter and son-in-law, Ashley and Conner, in Idaho.
