Taylor Swift’s ‘Favorite’ Cocktail Is Following in the Footsteps of the Negroni Sbagliato (With Prosecco)

Remember when Emma D’Arcy taught us about the negroni sbagliato (with prosecco in it)? Well, Taylor Swift’s favorite cocktail was just revealed, and it’s bound to drive bartenders everywhere just as crazy.

During a dinner with friends at a Kansas eatery, the pop star reportedly ordered a French Blonde, and the restaurant’s owner then told Page Six, “From our understanding, [that is] her favorite cocktail.” Why would a Midwest restaurant owner know Taylor Swift’s favorite drink? We have to assume her team calls ahead to make sure anyplace she dines can make it. Okay, we don’t have to assume that, but it’s my theory and I’m sticking to it.

How you make a French Blonde, probably.

So, what is a French Blonde, other than the name the TikTok girlies will definitely give to the next hair color trend? The Food Network provided a recipe for the cocktail that comes from Patricia Heaton, star of Everybody Loves Raymond, so obviously, she’s trustworthy. According to The Food Network/Patricia, you need 4 ounces grapefruit juice, 2 ounces vodka, 2 ounces elderflower liqueur, 2 teaspoons lemon juice, 2 dashes lemon bitters, and 2 thin lemon slices for garnish. The instructions read, “In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine the grapefruit juice, vodka, elderflower liqueur, lemon juice, and lemon bitters, and shake well. Strain into 2 coupe glasses. Float a thin lemon slice on top of each.” Sounds easy enough.

But wait!! Other sources suggest other boozes. Saveur suggests gin, not vodka, and omits the lemon juice in favor of Lillet Blanc, a French aperitif. Buzzfeed tried a similar recipe and reported excellent results. So until Taylor Swift is willing to share exactly how and with what she enjoys her French Blondes prepared, I suppose I have no choice but to make a bunch of different kinds and sip them all while listening to 1989 Taylor’s Version until I can’t stand up. Brands, if you’d like to be considered for this highly scientific experiment, hit me up.
