October has been a busy month for the video game industry. Anticipated titles such as Assassin’s Creed Mirage, EA Sports FC 24, and more, have finally hit the markets. Although the competition has been tough, the top spot is yet to be replaced.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage ranks second in the UK sales chart, just behind EA Sports FC 24. Even though the latter saw a 48% decline in sales, it managed to retain its no. 1 spot, beating new releases such as AC Mirage and Detective Pikachu.

With AC Mirage in second position and Detective Pikachu in third, Mario Kart and Hogwarts Legacy completed the top five rankings. Mortal Kombat dropped from the second position to the eight after a sharp dip in sales. For the first time since its release, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom faced a 10% decrease in sales, bringing the game down to the tenth position.

Here’s UK Boxed Games Sales Chart (as seen on Oct 7th):
EA Sports FC 24
Assassin’s Creed Mirage
Detective Pikachu Returns
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Hogwarts Legacy
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
Mortal Kombat 1
Minecraft (Switch)
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Both AC Mirage and EA Sports FC 24 come from popular and highly successful franchises. Either one of them could outperform the other in terms of sales. So, Sports FC 24 at the top spot is not really that surprising.
One of the highest selling points of Assassin’s Creed Mirage is its return to the series’ roots. Taking on a different approach, Ubisoft has decided to focus on its core pillars– stealth, parkour and assassinations. The small-scale design of Baghdad gives it a much more intimate feel.

The initial response to Assassin’s Creed Mirage might not be what anyone expected. However, it has not even been a week since the game went live. Hopefully, as time passes, we might get a better look at how it fares.
