LAMATA Boss Inspects LRMT Red Line Overpass Bridge Ahead Of Start Of Operation In Q1 2024

The Managing Director of Lagos Metropolitan Area transport authority (LAMATA) Engr. Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo, has inspected the last of five overpass bridges on the highly anticipated LRMT Red Line.

Speaking during the inspection, LAMATA boss said all the infrastructure had been completed, leaving only asphalt works, which she said could be completed in 10 days.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to commission the 27 kilometres Red Line within the first quarter of 2024. When Red Line Rail begins operations, it is expected to carry 500,000 passengers per day.

LASTMA Arrests Notorious ‘One Chance’ Robbers, Recover Operational Vehicle, One Escaped With P.O.S Machine

Operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) on Thursday (today) arrested three notorious ‘one chance’ armed robbers by Jubilee Bridge, around Abule-Egba area of Lagos.

A press statement issued by LASTMA confirmed that they were arrested alongside with their operational vehicle a painted ‘T4’ commercial bus (APP 406 YE) at U-turn area of Abule-Egba.

The agency further revealed that one of the notorious ‘one chance’ armed robbers later escaped with a Point of Sale (P.O.S) machine.

“Immediately they were arrested one of them escaped with a P.O.S machine before the arrival of the Police men. Preliminary investigations revealed that they were notorious ‘one-chance’ armed robbers terrorising the entire Abule-Egba and its environs.”

No Plan To Increase The Price Of Petrol To N1,200 Per Litre, NNPC Assures Nigerians

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) limited, has debunked reports that oil marketers are fighting to increase the price of petrol to N1,200 per litre in a free market due to the crash of the naira against the dollar.

In a statement, the NNPCL assured the public that there is no imminent increase in the cost of petrol.

“The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd. assures the public that there is no imminent increase in the cost of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol.

“NNPC Ltd. urges Nigerians to disregard unfounded rumours and assures them that there are no plans for an upward review of the PMS price. Motorists nationwide are advised against engaging in panic buying, as there is presently ample availability of PMS across the country.”

Mr Jubril Gawat, a Senior Special Assistant on News Media to the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has clarified that the military men and police officers are exempted from Lagos Okada ban, but noted that they must be ‘fully dressed’ and must obey traffic rules while using it.

“We made the announcement and the information we put out was that Police, Soldiers and other Security formations can use Okada but ‘fully dressed’ while using it, Also it doesn’t give them the excuse to use one-way or BRT Lane. This information was agreed fully by all stakeholders involved.

Jubril Gawat said this while reacting to an X user (formerly Twitter) with the handle Mr Creativity, who questioned the way Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu treated a soldier that was apprehended for plying one-way along Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
