The 14-year-old is also the first female skateboarder to land a 720 in competition, having done so at the Tony Hawk Vert Alert last June.
Skateboarding legend Tony Hawk praised Trew on Instagram after the 900, writing in part: “Arisa Trew just became the first female to land a 900. Glass ceilings are so 2023. Congrats @arisa_trew! 🛹🌀🏆”
Hawk, of course, landed the first-ever 900 in competition back in 1999 at X Games 5 in San Francisco during the Skateboard Vert Best Trick competition.
Trew is currently ranked as the No. 2 female skateboarder in the world, per World Skate. She is looking to qualify for the Paris Summer Olympics in park skating (vert skating is not an Olympic sport).
Trew appears well on her way toward accomplishing that goal after finishing first in the Olympic Qualifier Series in May in Shanghai. She now moves on to the second and final part of the series, which begins June 20 in Budapest, Hungary.
