Lucille Ball’s daughter, Lucie Arnaz, was so worried about being compared to her famous mother that she made a “deal” with her to be written off “Here’s Lucy” if she starting getting bad reviews.
Arnaz, along with her younger brother Desi Arnaz Jr., were cast in the TV sitcom to play the “I Love Lucy” star’s children when they were 17 and 15, respectively.
“I debated about whether or not I should actually do that,” Lucie — whose father Desi Arnaz famously played Ricky Ricardo on “I Love Lucy” — tells Page Six. “Because people will say ‘Oh, she just got that job because she’s her daughter,’ and they would be right.”
Lucie, 71, reluctantly took the job after making a “deal” with Ball that if she stared to hear whispers like, “she’s not that good” or “they don’t have any talent,” her mom would fire her from the series.
