CM Punk’s long-awaited return to WWE at Survivor Series 2023 was one of the craziest moments of the year. It’s no surprise then that pro wrestling fans are wondering if CM Punk will be in WWE 2K24.
The self-proclaimed “Best in the World” spent almost a decade outside of WWE, leaving the company back in 2014. After years away from the wrestling world, followed by an eventful stop in AEW, Punk is back, and we want to play as him when 2K24 releases.
Is CM Punk confirmed for WWE 2K24?
No, CM Punk has not been confirmed for WWE 2K24 yet. The official trailer for the game was released on Monday, January 22, and featured cover stars Rhea Ripley, Bianca Belair, and Cody Rhodes talking about “finishing their stories.” Even legends like Hulk Hogan, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, and The Undertaker were included.
Notable by his absence, however, was the Straight Edge Superstar.
CM Punk could still be in WWE 2K24: Theories
CM Punk being missing from the trailer has left some thinking that he has missed the cut for this year’s release, but there are reasons to be optimistic.
Firstly, the content for the trailer was shot back in the summer, as revealed by Ripley and Rhodes in a behind-the-scenes video uploaded by WWE. Punk didn’t return to the company until Survivor Series: War Games in November, so couldn’t have been at the shoot.
On top of that, appearing later in the year doesn’t automatically rule you out of the game. For example, take Bray Wyatt. He returned to the organization in October 2022 but appeared as DLC in WWE 2K23, released as part of the “Revel with Wyatt” pack in July 2023.
Finally, CM Punk is one of wrestling’s last bonafide superstars. His return to the company has 8.4 million views on YouTube, and he has dominated the company’s merch sales since then. A WWE 2K game without Punk would be almost unfathomable at this point, and 2K know that. I can’t see any way that the developers make fans wait over a year to play as him once again.
Unfortunately, we’ll just have to wait and see for now and hope that 2K drops the news we all want to hear. WWE 2K24 is currently scheduled to release on March 8, just weeks before Wrestlemania.
