Ye West (formerly known as Kanye) has been one of the biggest stars in music for two decades now. He may also be one of the most controversial figures in the industry at the moment, but even his string of anti-Semitic comments have seemingly not dimmed his popularity. This week, the rapper hits No. 1 on a Billboard chart he’s never dominated before.
“Carnival” by West, Ty Dolla $ign, and collaborators Rich the Kid and Playboi Carti, rises to No. 1 on the TikTok Billboard Top 50. The tally ranks the tunes that perform the best on TikTok, which has become an incredibly important platform for many artists when it comes to launching new tracks and turning songs into smashes.
This week, “Carnival” climbs from No. 5 to No. 1 on the TikTok Billboard Top 50. It debuted in fifth place just last week, so the track only needed two frames to rise to the summit.
“Carnival” marks the first No. 1 hit for all the credited artists on the TikTok Billboard Top 50–except for one, that is. Carti is the only musician on the tune who has reached the top spot before on the TikTok-exclusive ranking. He scored his first leader in September 2023 when his own “Sky” reached the peak.
Both Rich and $ign count “Carnival” as their only hit on the TikTok chart. Carti has collected five placements, including a trio of top 10s. West has thus far pushed a trio of tunes to the TikTok Billboard Top 50, with all of them breaking into the top 10 for at least one week.
TikTok has been an important player in the success of “Carnival,” which is not done rising yet. This week, the Vultures 1 song is up to a new high of No. 2 on the Hot 100. It looks like in the coming days, it may climb to the highest rung on that competitive tally.
