The National Basketball Association (NBA) has imposed a fine of $100,000 on the Philadelphia 76ers due to inaccurate public remarks concerning the health status of All-NBA center Joel Embiid.
An inquiry by the league revealed that while the Sixers adhered to player participation policies regarding Embiid’s absence from games, they failed to convey his knee-related health issues accurately in their public commentary.
The NBA highlighted statements made by Daryl Morey, the president of basketball operations, and head coach Nick Nurse. Their remarks were deemed ”inconsistent with Joel Embiid’s actual health condition and a breach of NBA regulations.”
Injury Overview and Current Roster Status
According to league sources, it has been confirmed that this season Joel Embiid is sidelined due to a “left knee condition.” As of now, neither he nor newly signed free agent Paul George have seen any action on the court for Philadelphia.
