If you choose to remove bodily hair, whether by shaving, waxing, epilating or laser, there’s no denying that it can be a real chore. It’s time-consuming, sometimes uncomfortable, and the results usually don’t last forever. However, Braun has just brought out a new intense pulsed light (IPL) tool that claims to be the fastest – and smartest – yet.
The new Braun Skin i-expert IPL Hair Removal System, available from Boots and the brand’s website, is the world’s first ‘smart’ IPL tool, adapting to the individual’s skin and hair and giving feedback to create what Braun calls ‘a superior beautician-like experience at home’ without any discomfort. Braun’s tests say that you can expect to see visible results within three weeks of use and up to one year of smooth skin.

Other features include two sensitive modes for more delicate areas, a pink vanity case to store it in, and Braun’s fastest ever light flashes (one every 0.5 seconds), meaning you can treat the entire body in 15 minutes.
The i-expert has been receiving rave reviews from shoppers too, who love how easy to use it is and the results it gives.
“This product is life changing!” wrote one Boots shopper. “I don’t have to shave for weeks. This is worth the investment, I highly recommend – go out and get this! 10 out of 10.”
Another happy customer wrote: “This is great! I can’t believe how fast it works and it really helps keep my hair growth to a minimum. It leaves me smooth and feeling soft for weeks at a time. I noticed results after the first few weeks and now I have to use it maybe once a month.”
And a third five-star review reads: “This is the first time ever using any type of hair removal device. It truly delivers long lasting laser hair removal at home, and I love how seamless it is to use. It’s truly one of a kind.”

The only downside? The price, coming in at an eye-watering £929.99. While making this one-off purchase may save you money on salon waxing or laser appointments in the long run, you might want to share the cost by buying it with a close friend or family member (be sure to sanitise it between uses), or wait to see if it’s in any Boots sales.
How does IPL work?
According to Braun, IPL “delivers a spectrum of light to the skin, which reaches the root of the hair via the melanin. This stimulation disables the follicle and inhibits the root to produce new hair. When done correctly and over enough time, IPL offers permanent hair reduction.”
