Colson Smith, who is famous for playing the role of Craig Tinker on Coronation Street, has revealed his 10 stone weight loss secrets while in the Celebrity Big Brother house. The soap star opened up to celebs like Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh, about how he struggled with losing weight before making certain changes to his diet.
During one episode of the reality TV show, Colson, 25, shared that when he was 18 years old he followed a really strict diet which wasn’t successful at all. He said: “I lost weight when I was 18 through quite a strict diet and then, what I found was that I was gaining weight and then I’d try and diet again, the way I thought I needed to diet.”

The Corrie actor opened up about his unhealthy eating habits and said: “I wouldn’t eat for a day and a half. I’d just starve myself and then I’d be that hungry that I would like,” reports Birmingham Live. Sharon, who has shared her weight struggles in the past, added to the conversation as she said: “The floodgates would burst”.
Colson continued as he described his downward spiral with food: “I used to drive to KFC and I used to order three meals and then I would hate myself so I wouldn’t eat again for a day and a half and it would be that for months and months and months.”
Known for playing policeman Craig Tinker on the cobbles, the actor also created a YouTube film in 2021 called ‘Bored of Being the Fat Kid’. He spoke about how he’s struggled with his weight since he was 11 years old and how he was bullied online because of his size.

He first tried dieting for 100 days before the National Television Awards. However, he ended up treating himself to a burger and two pasties as he had “forgotten how to eat” and realised it was a “level of self-harm I was doing to myself through food”.
In 2019, Colson made a big change to his eating habits and stopped drinking the many fizzy drinks he used to have – something he thought everyone did. Looking back at his unhealthy habit, he said: “I will have been drinking five pints of diet coke every day, I didn’t know that wasn’t normal.”
He then started working with a life coach named Rob who played a crucial part in transforming and improving his physical and mental health. This was achieved with the help of meal packages and gym workouts.

When he first met Rob, he weighed around 22 stone, but thanks to his lifestyle changes, he managed to lose roughly 10 stone. Colson also developed a love for running and now includes it in his routine whenever he can.
“I started to like myself and respect myself and I realised I deserved the respect,” he said about his new regime. While chatting with the other CBB contestants, he expressed how much happier he is with himself.
Colson shared: “I am glad that I’ve done what I’ve done the way that I’ve done it and like I have the level of control that I’ve got, because it’s like I have a discipline, but then I also understand myself.”
