Gatineau police major crimes division, in collaboration with a squad of members from the Sûreté du Québec and Ontario Provincial Police, arrested six people Thursday in the Lachute-Hawkesbury area in connection with an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking in the West Quebec region.
Four men and two women were arrested in a series of raids. They were to appear in court Thursday to answer a number of charges including racketeering and several trafficking and weapons charges.

Police said the investigation began in February following a series of arsons and incidents of violence and intimidation linked to a battle for control of the drug trade between two groups.
Police conducted searches in March, when they seized nearly 250 grams of cocaine, more than 15,000 methamphetamine tablets, more than $11,500 in cash and two loaded 9mm handguns.
