Ottawa firefighters managed to stop a fire that was already spreading to the grass and headed to neighbouring properties in a neighbourhood just west of Stittsville on Saturday afternoon.
Ottawa Fire Services received multiple calls to a home on Sawgrass Circle near the Canadian Golf and Country Club at about 12:30 p.m.

Callers, including the homeowner, reported heavy smoke and flames. Due to the heavy black smoke visible from a distance and the reports from callers, a working fire was declared while firefighters were on the way.
