The Gatineau Police Service issued a request for public assistance in locating 29-year-old Jay Axel Stevens, saying Friday that he was the subject of an arrest warrant and was illegally at large.
The arrest warrant was issued for charges of armed assault, assault and uttering threats against a peace officer, a police news release said.

Police asked citizens not to intercept Stevens themselves, saying he could be armed, but rather to immediately call 911 if he was seen.
Anyone with information about Stevens’ whereabouts was asked to contact the Gatineau Police Service by calling 819-246-0222.
Stevens was described as a white, English-speaking man standing about five feet 11 inches (1.8 metres) tall and weighing 174 pounds (79 kilograms).
