Home and Away star James Stewart, who portrays Justin Morgan in the long-running soap, recently made headlines by sharing his remarkable body transformation journey. In April, he announced a staggering 12kg weight loss, accompanied by a complete lifestyle overhaul to prioritise his physical and mental wellbeing.

In a candid interview with The Daily Telegraph, James revealed the key to his successful transformation: a significant dietary shift, most notably giving up alcohol. While acknowledging the hard work involved, he emphasised that the real battle lies in the kitchen and at the bar.

“No one wants to hear it, but most of the work is done in the kitchen and at the bar. The hard part is the food,” he admitted.

To maintain a healthy lifestyle, James adopted a Sunday routine of stocking his fridge with nutritious options. He even enlisted the help of his daughter, Scout, in the kitchen, encouraging her to learn the value of making healthy choices.

The decision to abstain from alcohol, though challenging, marked a turning point in his journey. “The hardest period” of his transformation was when he made the firm decision to close the bar and exclude alcohol from his life.

Discussing the job of the liver in cleaning out toxins, he said: “If grog is going in, your body only cleans the grog, it doesn’t clean the food.

“So for two months, if there’s no grog, the body gets used to cleaning the food — and then the love handles go, and that’s where the benefits start.”

The actor’s transformation not only impacted his physical appearance but also had a profound effect on his mental wellbeing. James candidly expressed that the process was “one of the hardest things I’ve ever done,” but the rewards were transformational, leading to enhanced “mental fitness.” He radiates self-confidence and admits to feeling like a better man, husband, and father.

The star also recently warned young actors against partying too hard, especially when attending important events like last weekend’s Logie Awards.

In an interview with Perth Now, he revealed: “The foyer is going to be filled with a bunch of potential people who are going to hire you in the future. It’s that one night. You’ve got to keep stringing sentences together and don’t make a fool of yourself.

“If you have to do the Macarena, do it for two seconds and shake hands, look them in the eye, and be able to walk into the audition room next week. That’s important.”

As Home and Away fans gear up for exciting new episodes, Justin Morgan finds himself embroiled in a gripping storyline. While completing community service, he encounters a troubled teenager seeking his assistance.

Alongside his partner, Leah Patterson-Baker, Justin decides to offer a helping hand. However, the well-intentioned gesture might lead to unforeseen challenges in the future.
