Minx is officially back for a second season of gender politics, ’70s fashion, and smut. The unconventional workplace comedy stars British actress Ophelia Lovibond as Joyce Prigger, a feminist activist who struggles to find a platform in the chauvinist Los Angeles of the ’70s. That is, until she joins forces with Doug Renetti, a pornography publisher played by Spider-Verse star Jake Johnson. Together they create Minx, the first erotic magazine geared towards a female audience.
Inspired by the story of real-life magazines like Playgirl and Viva, Minx premiered on HBO in March 2022, and quickly garnered fans thanks to richly layered performances from its ensemble cast—and some suitably steamy on-screen nudity.
Season 1 ended with Johnson and Lovibond’s characters parting ways, leaving the fate of the titular magazine and its employees in question. In a case of life imitating art, the future of the show then also became threatened: while it was initially renewed for a second season on HBO’s streaming service Max, that decision was reversed and the show got canceled.
Fortunately, the series had already acquired such a passionate audience that its cancelation led to several other streaming services vying for the rights, meaning that Minx was swiftly able to find a new home, and Season 2 was back on.

“We found out right from the beginning that there were three other streamers bidding on it. So, they said, ‘It’s gonna take a while to close the deal. But we will land somewhere,'” Johnson told ET. “So, once we knew there were three new places that were actively bidding on us, we kind of knew we were gonna land somewhere. And then the reaction from the people, where there was a big backlash and people were really mad if anything, felt really good because it felt like, ‘Oh, we have an audience and people care’… Sometimes as you’re making things, you don’t know, you don’t know if people really care. So, hearing that reaction, if anything, it felt good.”

How can I watch Season 2 of Minx?
The new home of Minx is on Starz, the same channel that made hits of Outlander, Heels, P-Valley and the recent Party Down revival.
The Season 2 premiere, entitled “The Perils of Being a Wealthy Widow,” airs on July 21 at 9 p.m. ET, with subsequent episodes airing every Friday night at the same time. Episodes will then be made available to stream on the Starz app at midnight that same night.
