For 15 years, Francesca Amber has been living by the Law of Attraction and manifestation. During this time, Fran, host of the UK’s number one self-improvement podcast, The Law of Attraction Changed My Life, has achieved some pretty improbable things.
The 39 year old married a man she had envisioned two years before she met him, and has three daughters despite suffering Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and incorrectly being told she was having sons.
Here, she shares her remarkable story…
“I think like most people in the Noughties, I read the book The Secret, but I took it further – I just became really obsessed with it, and I started to manifest.
I started online dating because my sister met her husband online. I put in the specifics of what I wanted, and I do have a thing for very tall men, so I put in that I was looking for someone 6’6″ and above. I knew it was a bit unrealistic. Normally you get hundreds of results, but I got one result back – one person. As soon as I saw his picture, I was like, ‘Oh, my God, that is my husband’. So I paid the money, messaged him, and after a month, he hadn’t replied.
I didn’t want to pay for another month, so I contacted match.com and asked if there was any way they could give me this guy’s number?
Of course they couldn’t and cited the data protection act. They probably thought I was a stalker!
I printed out his picture, put it on my vision board, and I had it inside my wardrobe for maybe two years. I never showed anybody it – obviously I didn’t want to seem crazy – but I just kept it there.
Then one day, my friend was walking along in London and she saw this really tall guy and she went up to him and said: ‘My friend really loves tall men. Would you be up for going on a blind date?’ She’s never done this for me before, and no one’s ever done it for me since.
We arranged to meet up that Tuesday and that day before we met, he asked if we could become friends on Facebook so it wasn’t a completely blind date. When he added me, I recognised him straight away. It was the same profile picture I’d printed out from the dating site!

Everyone kept saying to me, ‘When you meet him tonight, do not tell him that he’s your future husband. Don’t tell him you’ve had his picture printed out,’ but I couldn’t help it. I had to tell him, and we were engaged six months later.
I had had things happen before, but that was the first one where I was like, Oh my God, this is beyond anything that it It’s just beyond coincidence.
In my family, we had a history of bad luck with boys. My mum’s brother died and then she had a son between me and my sister who also died. So growing up, I always believed that if you had a boy, we wouldn’t be able to keep it – something would happen to them.
And so even though we’d had genetic testing done in the family and actually it turned out the deaths were just a couple of freak accidents or flukes I just had this in my head that I really don’t want boys.
So I had my eldest daughter. And then a few years later, when I found out I was having twins, I just was panicking because I thought, imagine if I ended up with two boys.
So I went and had one of those early Harmony tests . I really couldn’t afford it because this was right at the beginning of the pandemic and my salon had closed, I had no income. It was £400 and I just thought, I need some light at the end of the tunnel right now, I need to know the gender. I waited and I got the phone call saying, ‘Great news. They’re all healthy. There’s no syndromes or anything, and it’s two boys. Congratulations.’
I went into a deep depression for about 24 hours because I really wanted my daughter to have a sister – my sister is my best friend. Gender disappointment is something people get really funny about, but I was devastated and I cried for 24 hours.

I remember sitting down that night for dinner, sobbing, and my daughter had never really seen me like that. I just thought, I need to get my s**t together – this poor kid’s in lockdown. I can’t be sitting here crying! I decided in that moment I was going to sit and write a gratitude list of everything I’m thankful for.
I wrote: ‘I’m really thankful I can get pregnant. I’m really thankful I already have a daughter. I’m really thankful the twins are healthy.’
But I also had a vision board on my phone of identical twin girls and I kept it on there, and I looked at it even though it made me feel so upset because I’ve been told I was having boys and I didn’t know what that would look like for me. But I was like trying to find all the positives.
I took my daughter up for a bath and put her down for bed and by the time I came back downstairs and I had 14 missed calls on my phone from a number I didn’t know, which I thought was unusual. I phoned it back, and it was the lady from the Harmony Clinic. And she was like, ‘I’m so, so sorry. My mum is really ill at the moment. I’m a carer for her. I’ve had no sleep. I told you you were having boys. You’re actually having twin girls.’
It was like when I met my husband, that moment of like, ‘I have made this happen. I have created this reality.’ It was absolutely insane, and it was honestly one of the best moments of my life. Not just because they were girls, but I realised you can create anything if you really want it enough.
Francesca’s top tips for manifesting for beginners
1. Get clear on what you want. Especially I think, women, especially if we’re mothers. We’re not used to asking ourselves what we actually truly want. Sometimes you can look around at your life and realise that there’s very little in it that you actually feel like you consciously chose.
2. And so I’d say the first thing is just to figure out exactly what it is that you want to manifest and to be as specific as possible because people saying I want to be rich. Your version of Rich and someone else’s version of Rich is completely different, so you need to be really specific about it, for example, ‘I want to earn a certain amount a month’. or I want my dream home or what does a dream home look like?
3. Make a vision board. I tend to use a digital vision board. Back in the day, I feel like when people first discovered the secret, they would have, like these parties where they’d cut up magazines and newspapers, like ransom letters.! I like to just go on Pinterest and Instagram and make a little collage on my phone and then put it as the screensaver on my phone.
4. Find pictures that really inspire you, and they don’t have to be pictures that you feel like are right. So, for example, if you were trying to get married finding maybe a picture of like a couple kissing on their wedding day might feel really like easy to you. Find a picture that really embodies what you feel about love.
So, for me, I always have a picture of Vogue Williams and Spencer Matthews, because he was trash when he was on Made In Chelsea – wasn’t he? He was cheating on everyone! And now look at him. He’s a dream husband. For me, that just shows that anyone can be transformed into an ideal partner – it’s just that they haven’t met the right person.
The reason I have it on my phone is because we look at our phones so many times a day, so, subliminally, you’re seeing that vision board 300 times a day without even noticing it.
5. Work through any limiting beliefs that you have of what would be holding you back. You’d be amazed at the limiting things that we tell ourselves about why we can’t achieve the things that we want. This is not just a quick thing – you really do have to work through these.
