IG Live November 15: Is ‘Pharmageddon’ Here?

Pharmacists and technicians at some of the biggest drugstore chains in the U.S. are protesting over what they say are unsafe working conditions. According to leaders of the movement, this is “Pharmageddon” — a turning point for workers who cite years of burnout and lack of support from big-chain pharmacies and want conditions that allow them to better serve and protect patients.

In recent months, pharmacy workers at CVS and Walgreens staged walkouts in several states, including a September walkout in Kansas City, Missouri, that forced at least a dozen CVS Pharmacies to close. And just last week, a formal unionization effort was announced by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) and pharmacy labor activists.
