Inside ITV Love Island’s Anton Danyluk’s feud with Molly-Mae Hague

Five years on since Anton Danyluk made a name for himself on the 2019 series of Love Island, the 29 year old gym owner has once again stepped into the iconic villa as he hopes to find love on Love Island: All Stars.

Yet while many fans at home are no doubt delighted by the return of such an explosive personality, several long-time viewers may be wondering if his presence will cause any drama among the contestants, especially given his vocal opinions last time around.

During his original tenure on the show, Anton butted heads with several of his co-stars, but perhaps none more so than Love Island sweetheart Molly-Mae Hague.

But what exactly happened between the pair to cause such intense friction?

Kitchen Outburst

After entering the villa on the fifth series of the popular ITV dating show, from the very beginning there appeared to be no love lost between Molly Mae and Anton, with the crux of their drama beginning after Maura Higgins entered the villa and made an immediate play for Molly’s now-fiancé Tommy Fury.

As she retreated to the kitchen to complain about the situation, Anton was far from a sympathetic ear as he bluntly accused her of stringing him and Tommy along, while also getting to know Danny Williams.

Not holding back, Anton told her: “At the end of the day, you should have made it very clear to him (Tommy) and clear to me.”

Clearly taken aback, Molly tried to defend her actions as she explained: : “I do struggle with being open and honest about how I feel until I categorically know…”

But Anton was quick to interject as he rebuffed her excuse completely and even accused Molly of only wanting Tommy because Maura had entered the scene.

As the other Islanders looked on at the uncomfortable exchange, Anton continued to dig his heels in and lashed out at Molly while declaring: So you categorically know after a few hours because someone has come into the place? You’ve made your bed, now lie in it.”

Act of Sabotage

Following the outburst Anton and Molly mostly steered clear of each other for the rest of their time in the villa, but the argument was far from forgotten, especially when Molly Mae managed to get Tommy to confess that Anton had given his number to a Spanish checkout girl during a trip to the supermarket.

Widely considered by fans to be an act of sabotage, Molly herself later appeared to confirm this when she chose to vote off Anton and Belle Hassan, a move with Belle argued was a clear case of voting off the competition.

Awkward reunion

Following the completion of the show, Molly once again came face to face with Anton during a very frosty cast reunion, which saw him declare he had gotten on well with his cast-mates, but barely spoke to Molly at all in the villa.

He told viewers: “I’m sure Molly will agree with this, we never really spoke in the villa, we never even spoke.”

Molly however then hit back by adding: “I mean, I didn’t think you weren’t a friend of mine, I’m not gonna lie. I thought we were friends.”

Anton then replied: “No, no we had the conversation, remember and someone came up to us like, ‘is this a chat, how weird is that?’… remember? So we never even had chats, there were times when we were in the room together and we never had chats.”

Clearly irked by the statement, Molly awkwardly then added: “Yeah, but… we weren’t the closest, but I wouldn’t have said we weren’t friends.”

In a separate interview with The Sun, Anton revealed: “I have nothing against her, we just didn’t speak in the villa. We would be in the same room and wouldn’t say a word to each other.

“A lot of people think it’s because they voted us out but that’s nothing to do with it, we just never got on.

“We just never clicked and she didn’t like it after I put her in her place earlier in the show. But I got on with everyone else really well.”
