This Morning’s Ben Shephard is no stranger to showing off his sweaty workouts after pumping iron and being pushed to his limits in the gym. The presenter, 49, has been a regular on TV screens, presenting shows such as Good Morning Britain, Ninja Warrior UK and Tipping Point – but away from the camera, fitness has played a huge role in his life and he’s undergone an epic transformation.
The dad of two has completed a variety of extreme events for charity, including ultra-triathlons, coast-to-coast challenges and summiting Mount Kilimanjaro. Now his new role on This Morning has seen the presenter opt for more svelte clothing choices rather than his classic suit attire that was his staple on Good Morning Britain.
Back in 2012, Ben took part in Men’s Health six-week six-pack challenge, taking him from a slim-fitting physique with little muscle definition to boasting rippling abs

The Essex-born presenter, who hosted Good Morning Britain for many years alongside stars including Kate Garraway and Susanna Reid, before quitting in late February, recently stepped into the shoes of Holly Willoughby, 43, and Phillip Schofield, 62, on This Morning, presenting the show from Monday to Thursday with former SMTV Live host Cat Deeley, 47.
Away from his hosting duties, Ben has undergone a full body transformation over the years. Back in 2012, he took part in Men’s Health six-week six-pack challenge, taking him from a slim-fitting physique with little muscle definition to boasting rippling abs.

Ever since the presenter has been hooked to keeping fit and regularly shares snaps and videos of himself working out in the gym on social media for his 581,000 followers to swoon over. His eagle-eyed followers can’t help but to gush over his physique in the comments section, with many praising how “strong” he is and that his exercise regime is “impressive”.
Even some of Ben’s celebrity pals are impressed by his muscle-bound transformation, with popstar Olly Murs calling him a “beast” in a recent workout post and Kate Garraway adding: “Blimey – exhausted watching you!” Even Paddy McGuinness has noticed Ben’s epic body as he shared: “Quadzilla,” on a new video that showcased the star’s muscly legs.

Other fans have complimented Ben’s physique with sweet comments. One wrote “Ben is soo fit”, as one made a joke about his “guns” and another user called him “superman.”
One fan shared: “Oooohhhhh those triceps.” Another replied: “Machine . Loving seeing you on TM.” While a third added: “You are looking so buff Ben.” Many fans complimented his toned chest while others cheekily suggested he should exercise without his shirt on.

However Ben’s fitness journey came to a grinding halt back in the summer of 2021 as he had to undergo surgery after he ended up rupturing his ACL and tearing the meniscus in his knee. The star went on to share the shocking details of his gruesome injury which saw him appear on TV sporting a leg brace.
Back in 2020, Ben first confessed to Good Morning Britain viewers that he had suffered a ruptured ACL, torn meniscus, and a fractured leg while playing football, but initially didn’t realise how serious it was and continued with the game. He went on to say that he had cut through nerves, which explained why he hadn’t felt the full impact at the time. Ben later went on to have rehab for the injury.

Speaking exclusively to OK! in 2022, Ben – who also injured his back in 2018 – said: “I’m not going to be doing any more marathons. Ironically, not because of my knee but because my back’s so bad.
“That’s one of the things about hitting 50 – my body can’t keep up with my enthusiasm for exercise.” The active TV host loves sports, listing kitesurfing, rugby, golf and wakeboarding as some of his hobbies and has completed 14 marathons in the past ten years.

He even climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in 2019 alongside celebs including Ronan Keating, Denise Van Outen and Gary Barlow. But Ben hasn’t let his injuries stop him as he has continued to be pushed to the max by personal trainer James Stark, and shares clips of himself doing push ups with kettlebells and other strength-boosting exercises.

The Ninja Warrior UK host has spoken previously about how fitness is a big part of his life, and in an interview in 2020, Ben said he was “more flexible than ever.” He told Men’s Fitness he was “inspired” by the contestants on Ninja Warrior UK, who had “such agility and flexibility”.
“That’s changed a lot of what I’m doing now – anything that involves functional movements and flexibility,” he explained. “I’m 45 and probably more flexible than ever. It’s an ongoing journey and shifts all the time, and I’m inspired by things I see and get to try,” Ben added.
