The fourth and final season of Sex Education is now streaming on Netflix, introducing several new characters and serving up a range of bittersweet endings for Otis, Eric, Maeve, Aimee, and Adam who have spent the last four years grappling with their budding sexuality, figuring out who they are, and looking ahead to the future.
Oh, and this is Sex Education, so there were also dicks.
Penises have been deployed for comedic effect from the very beginning of Sex Education: the house Otis (Asa Butterfield) shares with his mother, sex therapist Jean (Gillian Anderson) is decorated with all kinds of phallic sculptures, and one of the most memorable moments of the show’s first season involves Adam (Connor Swindells) exposing his well-endowed privates—reportedly the size of “two Coke cans on top of each other”—to a packed cafeteria.
Season 4 continued this trend, with a scene in which Otis accidentally exposed some pretty graphic dick pics on his phone to an entire class.

Is Asa Butterfield’s penis real in Sex Education Season 4?
We have yet to learn from the cast and crew of the show as to whether or not the penis shown on screen was for real, or a prosthetic, but Sex Education has deployed a prosthetic penis on multiple occasions previously.
In Season 2, viewers were subjected to a pretty graphic sequence which showed Otis masturbating in the car, which the creators achieved using a prosthetic penis and some coconut oil shampoo. In that same season, Otis’ uncontrollable erections became a running gag, with director Ben Taylor instructing Asa Butterfield to “engage boner!” when it was time to slip the prosthetic out of his pocket and down the front of his jeans.
