Jamie Lomas engaged! Inside Kym Marsh’s ex‘s love life as he celebrates proposal

Hollyoaks ‘bad boy’ Jamie Lomas has announced he and girlfriend Jess Bell are set to tie the knot following an elaborate Mexican proposal and three years together.

The couple, who first met through mutual friends on a night out three years ago, are set to tie the knot as they shared their happy news exclusively with OK!

Opening up on their romance, soap star Jamie, 48, told us: “We built the friendship first – we both thought that was important – and then something deeper grew out of that.

“Then one day I came home and noticed her toothbrush had taken up residence in the bathroom. Then it was deodorant and perfume.

“Next thing she’d moved an entire shelf of her stuff in. And now I can’t get rid of her!”

Former girlfriend

Little is known about Jamie’s former girlfriend, but the pair have son Billy, who is now 17, together.

It was confirmed by Jamie that when Billy was aged just six, he was being scouted by top Premier League scouts for his football skills.

Kym Marsh

Jamie was in a relationship with former Coronation Street star Kym Marsh for over five years. The couple started dating publicly in 2008, after Kym divorced ex husband Jack Ryder.

The couple were thrilled when Hear’Say singer Kym fell pregnant.

Tragically their son Archie was born prematurely at just 21 weeks, and died within minutes of being born in 2009.

Kym, who has two grown-up children Emilie and David from her relationship with Dave Cunliffe, and Jamie went on to welcome daughter Polly in March 2011, and Kym went on to bravely film scenes with her Corrie character Michelle Connor suffering a stillbirth.

Speaking at the time, Kym said: “I wanted to help women like me, and I wanted to honour Archie. I knew it would be really painful but this is an issue that affects thousands of families every year and it’s something that often isn’t talked about.”

The couple married in September 2012 in a star-studded ceremony alongside soap star guests.

It was later alleged at the time that Kym had been dating her Coronation Street co-star Oliver Mellor, who said: “I don’t know if our relationship was the cause of Kym’s divorce or just the catalyst – they had problems in their relationship already.

“But what happened between us wasn’t just a careless fling. It was real. Sadly, at the time, I thought Kym would never leave Jamie so I decided it was time to get out.”

Kym and Jamie were granted a divorce in July 2014.

The pair appear to now be on amicable terms following the split, as she shared her support for Jamie after he appeared on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! in 2017. She tweeted: “Yayy get in Jennie and Jamie!! Polly is ecstatic! Now I have removed her fingernails from my arm all is well!!!!”

Chloe Peers

Following his relationship with Kym, Jamie was briefly in a relationship with model Chloe Peers.

Speaking to the Mirror, Jamie said the 23-year-old model was “an amazing girl,” adding, “we have a lot of fun together.”Life is good at the moment,” said Jamie.

“I’d still love to go to America at some point and try films, but I am really happy here.”

Portia Hughes

In 2018 it was reported that Jamie was dating Portia Hughes, who was working on Hollyoaks.

The rumoured romance with Portia – who was 18 years younger than him – was said to have been a bit of a “whirlwind”.

The couple split a year later, with a source telling the Sun: “Jamie was completely smitten with Portia and they grew very close, very quickly.

“He can be quite private but was happy to go to events with her.

“Unfortunately, it was all a bit of whirlwind and they just couldn’t go the distance. They split amicably and she’s already moved on while he’s thrown himself into work.”
