Jeremy Renner Receives Standing Ovation at People’s Choice Awards

JEREMY RENNER JUST made his first public appearance, over a year after a serious accident which left him with more than 30 broken bones. The actor, best known for the role of Clint Barton a.k.a. Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, surprised the audience at last night’s People’s Choice Awards when he showed up to present one of the categories.

Renner was introduced by his fellow Marvel star Simu Liu, who was hosting the evening, and who encouraged everybody to “make as much noise as humanly possible” for him. The crowd went wild for the actor, who has been staying out of the public eye during his long road to recovery.

“The fans rock, I’ll tell you what,” said a visibly moved Renner. “This year’s been a heck of a journey, and I’m happy to be here with you, the fans. You guys are the best.”

Renner presented Billie Eilish with an award for her performance in the drama series Swarm, and was later seen hugging his Avengers co-star Tom Hiddleston, whose Disney+ show Loki won in the Sci-Fi/Fantasy Show of the Year category.

Renner was severely injured when he was a crushed by a snowplow at his home on New Year’s Day in 2023, and has since said that he thinks he might have died if his nephew Alex had not been there to help him.

“If I was there, on my own, that would’ve been a horrible way to die,” he told Diane Sawyer. “And surely, I would’ve. Surely. But I wasn’t alone – [I was with] my nephew. Sweet Alex. And the rest of the calvary came.”
