A Place in the Sun’s Jonnie Irwin has lost his battle with cancer after being diagnosed in 2020.
The presenter’s family shared the heartbreaking news on social media on Friday, February 2.
Throughout his illness, Jonnie kept his followers updated on his health after stepping down from his TV roles.
However, fans were overjoyed at the end of last year when he made a rare TV appearance on BBC’s Morning Live.
In a pre-recorded clip, the 50 year old was taking part in a home renovation programme.
Taking to Instagram to share a behind-the-scenes snap, he wrote: “Hope you enjoyed the short film I made for @bbcmorninglive this morning – if you missed it, it’s now on iPlayer. The next one is on next Monday morning.”

The segments were divided into two parts, with the last being shown on November 12. Jonnie was renovating a house that he wanted to leave to his children following his cancer diagnosis.
Sharing tips, Jonnie told BBC viewers what improvements they could make to the outside of their homes to add more value. Before ending the segment, fans saw Jonnie explain what he was planning to do with the outside area.
At the time, he said: “It’ll cost me around £2,000 to achieve this vision, but in my opinion, it’s a worthwhile investment.

“Renovations can be costly, but they also offer a great rate of return on investment if you plan ahead and do your research.”
When Morning Live came back on, the hosts Rav Wilding and Gaby Roslin took time to wish Jonnie a happy birthday.
Gaby said: “We just have to say a big happy birthday to Jonnie, he’s going to be 50 this Saturday. Have the most wonderful time Jonnie.”
Jonnie was told he had six months to live when he got his terminal cancer diagnosis in 2020, but he lived longer than expected.
At first, Jonnie had lung cancer, but in November 2022, he shared that it had spread to his brain.
