King Charles’ friend shares what the monarch will find ‘hardest’ about cancer diagnosis
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

A friend of King Charles has shared that “boredom will be one of the hardest things” for the monarch following his cancer diagnosis.

His Majesty, 75, has had to cancel all his public duties, Buckingham Palace announced on Monday.

He is undergoing “appropriate treatment from a specialist team” and it looks like all his medical check-ups will be in person.

With no work for now, insiders believe Charles might struggle with having nothing to do, some have even joked that he’ll be able to get through his “red boxes” of paperwork each morning.

But a friend has said: “Boredom will be one of the hardest things for him”, reports Mirror Online.

Another insider shared that Charles will still be able to enjoy some hobbies, like listening to his favourite records of the late Canadian singer Leonard Cohen, especially the touching song Take This Waltz, which he finds “very moving”.

Charles is resting up at Sandringham House in Norfolk, where it’s thought he’ll be visited by Prince William, Princess Kate and his grandkids this week – during the February half-term break.

The nation will be thankful for the support, just like they were last night when Charles wrote a heartfelt message to thank everyone for their kind thoughts.

The message from Charles reads: “I would like to express my most heartfelt thanks for the many messages of support and good wishes I have received in recent days. As all those who have been affected by cancer will know, such kind thoughts are the greatest comfort and encouragement.”

“It is equally heartening to hear how sharing my own diagnosis has helped promote public understanding and shine a light on the work of all those organisations which support cancer patients and their families across the UK and wider world. My lifelong admiration for their tireless care and dedication is all the greater as a result of my own personal experience. Charles R.”

Charles signed the note with “Charles R” and used Sandringham House’s red letterhead.

It was shared the day before Charles had hoped to attend church and his appearance at the service on Sunday, 11 February made everyone feel better.

He smiled warmly and waved to members of the public on his way to church, says Mail Online.

Last month, doctors found out Charles had an enlarged prostate and he stayed in hospital for three days after a procedure.

During this, they found another issue which turned out to be cancer but is reportedly feeling “wholly positive about his treatment”.

Trusted Royal insiders clarified that the King “does not have prostate cancer”, and it was during a recent hospital visit for a non-cancerous enlarged prostate that his separate condition was diagnosed.

Those close to the situation have shared that thanks to the medical intervention on his prostate, the other issue was identified, leaving the King immensely thankful to the doctors for their quick diagnosis.
