Love Island fans are taking to Twitter to express their disappointment after Jess Harding and Sammy Root were crowned this year’s winning couple in the live final.
Jess, 22, and Sammy, also 22, beat out several fan favourite couples in the public vote to storm to victory.
However, fans online have accused the final of being rigged and have insisted that runners-up, Whitney Adebayo and Lochan Nowacki, should have been crowned instead.
“This is rigged there ain’t no way JESS AND SAMMY beat out Whit and Lochan,” one Twitter user raged, while another seemed to be in disbelief: “Whitney being the UK favourite for six weeks but somehow Sammy and Jess won?”

“Y’all really voted someone the winner of love Island who said he wasn’t even attracted to her,” a third Twitter user joked, while another said that Sammy had “finessed the system” and demanded that they start counting the votes again.
Some users even tried to get traction on the hashtag #notmywinners, which they used underneath posted snaps of Whitney and Lochan, and third place runner ups Tyrique Hyde and Ella Thomas.
Others declared Whitney the “real winner” and insisted that she would “still be the most successful islander of this year.”

However, some fans hit out against the backlash online and rushed to defend Sammy and Jess.
“What a cute couple,” one person wrote, while another said: “delighted Jess won – she’s the only real girl in there.”
Another said “Jess won” as she was the “favourite of the season” – while partner Sammy was just along for the ride.
Others still just seemed to be enjoying the drama, and branded it the “best plot twist of the season.”

Most fans thought that the final two would come down to Whitney and Lochan and Ella and Tyrique – and the bookies agreed, placing the odds of a Jess and Sammy win at 4/1.
Meanwhile, fan favourites Whitney and Lochan had odds of 4/7, while Tyrique and Ella looked pretty likely victors too with odds of 4/1.
It’s no surprise then that Jess and Sammy winning the whole thing seems to have caused such a storm online.
Usually, ITV will eventually reveal the percentage of the vote, so fans will be waiting with baited breath to see just how close the final results were.
