A 35-year-old man remained in custody Tuesday evening after being arrested in connection with a stabbing at a residence in Morrisburg earlier in the day.
The victim was a 48-year-old woman known to the suspect, the Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release.

Neither person was identified.
Officers had responded to a report of an assault with a weapon at a home on Carraway Crescent at about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The woman was airlifted to an Ottawa hospital for what were considered serious injuries, though the severity of the injuries was subsequently downgraded and they were not considered life-threatening, police said.
There was no immediate word on whether the arrested man had been charged.
There was no risk to public safety, the OPP said, but they added that Morrisburg residents could expect to see an increased police presence in the area.
