A 41-year-old man is in custody after an 81-year-old man was stabbed Monday morning in Gatineau near a seniors’ apartment building, police said.
The conscious victim was transported to hospital with serious injuries, Gatineau police stated in a news release late Monday afternoon.

Just before 10:30 a.m., police were called to the scene of the stabbing, near Jean-René-Monette and Vianney streets, where they found the victim and also a suspect nearby.
A preliminary investigation indicated there was no link between the victim and the suspect, police said.
The suspect was scheduled to make a court appearance in Gatineau on Tuesday morning.
