Martine McCutcheon’s ‘simple’ weight loss trick after ditching ‘crazy diets’ and shedding 21 inches

Martine McCutcheon has shared her secret tip for weight loss after shedding 21 inches from her body in recent years.

Despite battling invisible health conditions such as Lyme disease, chronic ME and fibromyalgia, the 47 year old EastEnders star has figured out what’s best for her health.

In 2021, Martine revealed she lost weight using The Cambridge Diet Plan – featuring calorie-controlled meals. But now, the mum-of-one says she’s left ‘crazy diets’ behind, instead focusing on ‘what works for me’.

“I just feel like it’s really important to encourage women to just be the best version of themselves,” she said.

Her current approach? Forget strict food plans, Martine insists it’s all about filling her plate with various veggies at every meal and snacking on fruit throughout the day. It’s a strategy she feels has helped her stay in the best shape of her life.

“For 80 per cent of my week, I will mainly have just healthy proteins, vegetables and fruit, organic and veggie juices, and Flora spread. And then I’ll have treats 20 per cent of the time. It’s taken me such a long time to look through all the stuff that’s out there, and just do what works for me,” she spilled to Best Magazine.

After welcoming her son Rafferty in 2015, Martine confessed that she wanted to ‘feel healthy again’ without resorting to anything extreme. Her approach was slow and steady due to having Lyme disease.

“My loss was a tiny bit slower than the average person but to be honest I expected that as many diets/food plans didn’t work for me at all,” she candidly shared.

Speaking about her body’s transformation, Martine told Hello! magazine: “It took me a long time for me to become a mother with a lot of obstacles. My body went through a lot of changes as a result. Women’s bodies are complex and sensitive.”

Martine has been open about her struggles with chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia. The long-term condition causes extreme tiredness and pain all over the body.

Martine was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome in 2011 and also battled severe depression.

In April 2017, she was also diagnosed with Lyme disease. Martine revealed that a flare-up in her condition has forced her to take some ‘time out’ from work and social media.
