Spring is always a great time to start thinking about sorting your home and your wardrobes, but how often do you remember to extend that new-season blitz to your beauty stash?
Home and closet organising sensations the Style Sisters, who recently worked with Fool Me Once’s Michelle Keegan to declutter and perfectly organise her jam-packed wardrobe, say “Having an organised beauty and make-up area will just make getting ready so much easier and will elevate your day to day routine”, so there’s no excuse to leave your make-up, brushes and perfumes unorganised.
Here, speaking exclusively to OK!, best friend duo Gemma Lilly and Charlotte Reddington give us their top tips on sorting, storing and stashing away beauty products to make them easy to access and neat looking on your shelves.

Check for out of date products
The first step when you’re setting about organising your beauty products is to check the expiration dates on make-up and skincare, as using out of date items can lead to clogged pores and bacterial growth. “First up, you want to be checking all of the expiry dates, There are definitely things that have been opened for a little too long that need to go,” the Style Sisters caution.
Clean your brushes

On the subject of bacteria, can you remember the last time you cleaned your make-up brushes? “Before you get all organised with beauty storage accessories, you want to make sure your brushes are nice and clean,” the duo says. “We like to use this gentle brush shampoo to clean our brushes. You can either do it in the sink or you can use this handy little gadget.
“It’s so easy to use. All you need to do is fill it up with water and add a couple of drops of this make-up brush shampoo. The magic starts and it’s so therapeutic and time-saving, and it has a handy bit on the top to dry your brushes.”

Organise your products
How many times do you go to look for a product when you’re doing your morning make-up only to find it missing in your messy make-up bag? The Style Sisters say: “If you can’t neatly store your make-up, this handy organiser is perfect. It’s got a turn table to keep all of your essentials contained and it’s wipeable. We love it.”

Store your palettes

Bulky make-up palettes that don’t fit into bags and standard organisers can cause a messy-looking bathroom or bedroom shelf.
“Palettes are the one thing a lot of our clients struggle with, and these palette organisers are brilliant,” the duo suggests. “You can leave them on your side, on your dressing table or even in a drawer. If the palettes are too high, you can lay the ones that are too big flat. It keeps everything just so well organised.”

Access all your perfumes
If you can’t easily find your favourite fragrances, there’s a simple fix for that. “There’s nothing lazy about a Lazy Susan, and they aren’t just for the kitchen,” the experts share. “We like to use these for our beauty products and especially our perfumes. Use one on a shelf or a dressing table and it’ll allow you to easily see everything.”
