However, its bags are known for their high quality – and even higher price tag.
That’s why we’re always thrilled to spot an affordable alternative on the high street, and this time it’s New Look’s Brown Raffia Boxy Cross Body Bag, £24.99 here. The tan and beige straw bag is the perfect budget-friendly version of Aspinal of London’s beige The Resort Raffian and Leather Bag, £550 here, and it’s the perfect bag to take your wardrobe through spring and summer.

Just like the Aspinal of London version, New Look’s cross body bag is made from a light beige woven material, with tan leather (faux, in New Look’s case) trim. It also has a similar rectangular, boxy shape with an envelope style flap that fastens at the front.
There are some small design differences, most obviously that the Aspinal of London has a leather catch fastening whilst New Look’s Brown Raffia Boxy Cross Body Bag, £24.99 here, is secured by a metal press stud closing with a gold tab detail fixed to the front. New Look has also swapped Aspinal’s detachable chain strap for an adjustable faux leather one in a matching tan shade, which in our opinion makes it look more luxe and sophisticated.

Although the detachable strap means you can carry Aspinal of London’s The Resort Raffian and Leather Bag, £550 here, as a clutch, it’s easy to switch up your New Look version by simply tucking the strap inside the bag if you want to turn it into a hand-held style. That way it’s easy enough to switch it back whilst out and about if you need to go hands-free while carrying it.
Don’t worry about it taking up space in your Brown Raffia Boxy Cross Body Bag, £24.99 here, either, as it’s deceptively spacious, giving you plenty of room to keep your belongings alongside the strap when not in use. There’s even an internal zip compartment to keep your belongings safe whilst out and about.

The tan leather strap and gold hardware also make the bag look very similar to an even pricier designer version, mimicking the leather strap and gold YSL logo fastening of the Saint Laurent Medium Flap Raffia Shoulder Bag, £2,320 here. Just like New Look’s version, the YSL bag strap is also fully adjustable via a buckle fastening, with a similar rectangular shape.
