Just as the Queensway is scheduled to reopen following a bridge replacement over Percy Street, Ottawa motorists will have to prepare for another, intermittent traffic disruption on one of the major connections leading off from Highway 417.
The City of Ottawa announced Friday that the northbound section of Nicholas Street between the Highway 417 westbound off-ramp and Laurier Avenue would be reduced to one land nightly between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. from Tuesday, Oct. 24, until Saturday, Oct. 28.

Additionally, a noise-bylaw exemption had been obtained for the hours between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. on those same dates.
The advisory from the city, issued Friday, said the work was being done to facilitate the construction on new watermains and sewers and associated road rehabilitation work as part of a reconstruction project in the area of Greenfield Avenue, Main Street, Hawthorne Avenue and other roads in the area.
Vehicles exiting the Highway 417 westbound off-ramp will need to reduce their speeds and may experience temporary slowdowns, the advisory said. The work is not expected to impact OC Transpo transit routes.
The bridge replacement project on Highway 417 at Percy Street began Thursday evening and is scheduled to wrap up by 6 a.m. on Tuesday.
