“The OHL understands that the Durham Regional Police Service has closed this matter,” an online news release said Saturday. “The league investigation revealed that Lockhart violated OHL rules and the league’s code of conduct. This is in addition to the findings of a previous Oshawa Generals team investigation that determined the player violated team rules.”
The eight-game suspension dated back to a regular-season game on Feb. 1.
The nature of the alleged code of conduct breach has not been disclosed.
Lockhart was selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the sixth round of the 2021 National Hockey League draft, but he became a free agent in June after the Canucks declined to sign him to an entry-level contract.
He has also played in the OHL for the Otters and the Peterborough Petes.
