All eyes are on Los Angeles today (Sunday, 10 March) as some of the biggest names in the acting industry head to the Dolby Theatre for the 96th Academy Awards. Hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, the biggest night in showbiz will celebrate the past year in film, with awards such as Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Picture up for grabs.
Ahead of the ceremony, Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer has the most nominations this year after securing a whopping 13 nominations, while Poor Things comes in a close second with 11 nominations.
When the full list of nominees was announced back in January, Ryan Gosling spoke out about his disappointment after Barbie director Greta Gerwig and star Margot Robbie were snubbed.
“But there is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no Barbie movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie,” he said. “No recognition would be possible for anyone on the film without their talent, grit and genius.”
