Ottawa Comiccon is heralding a Middle-Earth reunion that could make the Eye of Sauron turn its gaze. Frodo, Sam, Merry, and Pippin — or rather, the actors who played them — are slated for a rare group appearance that’s bound to have fans skipping along like they’re heading to a party at Bag End.

Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Billy Boyd, and Dominic Monaghan are all set to bring a touch of Tolkien to the capital during a three-day hobnob from September 6 to 8.

The EY Centre will feel a bit like the Shire with Astin and Boyd in attendance the full weekend. Fans will have ample time for autographs and perhaps a few tales of their cinematic derring-do. Meanwhile, Wood and Monaghan are making a special Saturday-only cameo.

A special “Night in the Shire with The Four Hobbits,” will also take place on September 7, featuring the four actors. The moderated discussion will offer insights into the making of the films, explore the lasting impact of their roles, and conclude with a Q&A session.

Beyond the Bagginses and their buddies, the event’s Artist Alley will host big names like Ryan Ottley, the pen behind more than a hundred issues of Invincible (now a popular Amazon Prime show), and Rossi Gifford, known for Invincible Presents: Atom Eve.

Celebrity sightings will continue with Monty Python’s John Cleese, Jennifer Morrison from House, Vikings heartthrob Alexander Ludwig, and Robert Patrick, the relentless T-1000 in Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Ottawa Comiccon will also host cosplay battles and tabletop gaming showdowns.

Early bird tickets range from $25 to $44 for single-day entry, to $74 for a basic three-day pass through September 1. Advance VIP options start at $104 and include benefits like priority entrance, an exclusive VIP badge and lanyard, limited edition merchandise, and early access on opening day.

Autographs and photo ops require separate purchases. So does the special Hobbits event. General admission for the stage appearance is $40, but the $150 Gold pass allows early entry, giving you the first pick of seats.

With a lineup that bridges generations and genres, the only thing missing from Ottawa Comiccon is an actual dragon. But, with weeks still to go and more reveals possible, there’s still time for Smaug to RSVP.
