Ottawa man, 20, charged with second-degree murder in Manor Park shooting death

Ottawa police have charged a 20-year-old Ottawa man with second degree murder in connection with the April 19 shooting death of a man in the Manor Park district.

Tristan Ethier, of Ottawa, is scheduled to appear in court Friday.

In a release, police said investigators believe the killing occurred after a struggle during the robbery of a weekly basement poker game at a residence on Birch Avenue.

Police said they are still attempting to identify a second suspect involved in the alleged incident in the company of Ethier.

The suspect is described as Caucasian, about six feet one inch to six feet two inches (185-188 cm) tall, weighing about 189 pounds (86kg) wearing dark clothing and a mask.

Police identified the victim as Kevin Willington, 53, of Ottawa. This newspaper has learned that Willington was a visitor to the home on Birch Avenue.

Investigators believe the murder happened during a robbery of a weekly basement poker game after a struggle.
