Peter Andre feels pressure being in the public eye but ‘doesn’t mind it’

Peter Andre has opened up about the pressures to look a certain way while being in the public eye. The Mysterious Girl singer who shot to fame for his rippling abs after releasing his hit 90s song, said he still feels pressure being in the public eye but “doesn’t mind it”.

Having celebrated his milestone birthday in February, Peter Andre exclusively told OK! that he feels “fit, healthy and fab at 50” despite finding it “stressful” in the lead-up to it. He said: “I really didn’t like the idea, but the second I turned 50 I felt a sense of relief.

“The relief was because I didn’t have to care about things, I don’t need to care about anymore and things that used to bother me don’t bother me anymore. And I feel fab at 50!.”

It appears that Peter is focused on maintaining a healthy lifestyle and staying fit, previously telling OK! that his abs are “at a hibernation stage”. But it can’t have been easy for the star whose been in the public eye since his early twenties, having released his hit single back in 1996, shooting him to stardom in the UK as fans drooled over his defined abs.

Asking the superstar if he feels the pressure to look a certain way in today’s society he shared: “It’s more being in the public eye than social media.

“Yes, you can touch and use filters but that’s no different to the early days with bodybuilders and supermodels would photoshop and airbrush their pictures for posters – it was the way it was back then!”

He went on to say: “So I think it’s being in the public eye, but the positive is that it does encourage you to be fit and healthy because you want to present yourself well.

“Yes, there’s a lot of pressure of course, but it’s a pressure I don’t mind.”

With 1.8M followers, Peter is very much still in the public eye having already had a monumental first half of the year. He recently finished a successful one-night-only musical tribute show to Michael Jackson at the London Palladium, starred in an award-winning gangster movie role and jumped onboard morning hosting duties at GB News with Ellie Costello.

Talking about how he maintains a healthy lifestyle with his ongoing busy work schedule he said: “I follow my ‘It’s Fine’ plan, which means anything is on the table in moderation. The key is to spread your calories over the week. I try to train five times a week which I think when you’re fit and healthy, you feel much better.

“I don’t follow a particular diet” but said “Everything in moderation”.

He added: “In balance, everything is ok to have, all your fruits and vegetables but things like your pasta and doughnuts. I love all of that food, and for me, it’s a balance and within that balance, I keep active and that all together makes me feel good.”

During a talk at Champneys Tring to launch the first 3D Aesthetics MediSpa, the superstar reflected back on his early days and said: “Back then it was all about image.

“We used to do calendars and they were also touched up”, but added: “We’re now at an age where everything is on how you look”.

When asked by the Founder of 3D Aesthetics, Roy Cowley if he would consider a treatment if it made him look 20 years younger, he said: “I would if it was non-surgical.

“I don’t have a problem with anyone doing anything surgical but I have anxiety about it – that’s why I don’t do it, so I’m trying to find alternatives.

“We all want to look a bit younger, those tiny little tweaks.” Peter received a 3D HydroO2 Facial from the MediSpa at Champneys Tring and said “It was really good, I actually fell asleep, it was really great.”
