Ottawa arson detectives are investigating a fire early Sunday at a building on Bank Street in the Glebe.
Responders were called at about 7:55 a.m. Sunday as several witnesses reported heavy smoke escaping from windows and the roof of the Glebe Apothecary at 778 Bank St.

“The fire has been deemed suspicious (and) as such the arson unit is investigating,” Ottawa police confirmed Thursday.
“As the investigation is in the infancy stages there is no further information to provide at this time.”
The drug store is adjacent to McKeen’s Metro grocers,
A second and third alarm was quickly sounded to bring more firefighters and equipment to the scene.
Firefighters worked for several hours to bring the fire under control.
There were no injuries reported.
Police ask anyone with information, video or other information to contact the arson unit at 613-236-1222 ext: 2202.
