Primark has launched a new affordable period swimwear with shoppers calling it a ‘game changer’

With the warmer weather on its way, all thoughts are turning to how you can make the most of the sunny weather. Whether it’s a trip to the beach, a swim at your local pool or even a much-anticipated holiday somewhere super hot, we’re all ready to don our swimsuits and enjoy the warmer climates.

However, no matter how meticulously you plan your sunbathing, your period’s arrival will undoubtedly affect your plans, which is why shoppers were over the moon when Primark announced its launch of a new range of period swimwear. With prices ranging from £6 to £16, the new collection includes bikini bottoms and a one piece swimsuit to help you manage your period without missing out on the warmer weather.

Period swimwear has been growing in popularity over recent years, and Primark shoppers can choose from the black Period One-Piece Swimsuit, £16 here, or the black Period Bikini Briefs, £6 here, which can be mixed and matched with your existing bikini tops to make sure you’re still covered even when your period hits. Shoppers have already been showing their love for the new range, with one person uploading a photo of the period swimwear briefs to the group Primark Haul which boasts more than 186,000 members.

The fan wrote: “Another game changer from Primark, especially for teenage girls!” as they shared a snap of the bikini briefs. Commenters were quick to share their experience of the range, with one writing: “’Used these last year so good, deffo a game changer” whilst another wrote: “They’re super comfortable too.”

Some, however, debated whether they were practical enough to actually use in water. One wrote: “I hope to God no one is wearing these while swimming in a pool. The blood will literally wash out into the water. These are for dry wear only i.e. sunbathing.”

Whilst another said: “I don’t think it’s really for swimming. More for wearing at the beach for just spotting. That’s what people use the Modibodi brand for.”

Despite some shoppers doubts, Primark’s product listing confirms they are, in face, suitable for wearing whilst in the water, saying: “You’ll feel cared for and confident while you swim to your heart’s content!”

Although one shopper said Modibodi’s range was more suited to dry activities, they’re actually not quite correct. The brand’s period-friendly swimwear has a hidden two-layered lying that absorbs periods whilst still being completely waterproof so you don’t need to worry about leaking.

You can get the fully waterproof and leakproof Soft Stretch Scoop Neck One Piece, £70 here, or the Soft Stretch Brazilian Brief, £30 here, to make sure you don’t miss out on your summer swim activities even when you’re on your period.
