Seasonal 'Winter Lights' show on display across downtown area

It’s time again for the Winter Lights Across Canada, the striking display of holiday lights winding across the national capital region.

The display began in 1985 to highlight sites along “Confederation Boulevard,” the ceremonial route around the heart of Canada’s capital region.

Since then, a number of dazzling light shows with thousands of lights have been added to showcase Parliament Hill, national museums, embassies and other significant sites in Ottawa and Gatineau.

The show has spread across Canada, with other monuments and sites highlighted in provincial and territorial capitals.

Here’s the best route to check out the displays across the Parliamentary precinct and across the Ottawa River in Gatineau:
