With the winter weather raging on, the influx of rain and wind is really putting our makeup’s staying power to the test, which is why a good setting spray has never been more important.
From foundation transfer to the dreaded panda eyes, we need something that’s going to stand up to the ongoing dreary conditions so you can finish the day looking just as fresh as you started it.
If your current setting spray just isn’t cutting it or you’re on the lookout for a new one to try, we’ll be taking our lead from Stacey Solomon, who has been raving about one product in particular that ensures you don’t end up with your carefully applied makeup running down your face at the first hint of rain.

Taking to her Instagram stories, Stacey shared that her go-to setting spray is the L’Oreal Paris Infallible 3-Second Setting Spray, £9.99 here, as she shared a snap of herself from earlier in the day with a time stamp on it to prove how long her makeup had been in place with not so much as an eyeliner smudge in sight.
The spray helps to extend your makeup’s lasting power and keep it firmly in place for up to 36 hours, and although we’re probably not planning on keeping our face on for a full day and a half, it’s definitely a telling sign that it’ll keep your makeup in place throughout the day.
The fact it’s waterproof, transfer-resistant and smudge-resistant also means that no matter what conditions you have to contend with your makeup should still be looking just as good at the end of the day as it did when you left the house. Unlike other setting sprays which can leave a cakey or mattified finish to your skin, the 3-Second Setting Spray actually creates an illuminated effect that gives your makeup an extra glow, whilst still instantly setting it in place.

You can also pick up the L’Oreal Paris Infallible 3-Second Setting Spray, £9.99 here, at Boots where it’s part of several of the retailer’s current promotions, including 3 for 2 deal on selected L’Oreal products that lets you get the cheapest of your three L’Oreal products for free at checkout, and the 3 for 2 deal on selected beauty products – perfect for topping up your beauty regime.
The spray has also gotten rave reviews from shoppers, with one saying: “I am really impressed with this setting mist, I struggle with my make up coming off esp on a night out while I’m dancing as I sweat a lot. This spray kept my make up looking fresh all night. The smell was a bit much at first and it felt quite sticky but it it quickly goes away and dries down fast.”
Whilst another added: “ was so excited to try this setting spray and it did not disappoint. It holds my make-up in place perfectly and does not feel drying on my skin. The only reason this doesn’t get 5* is that it feels and smells like hairspray! I feel like I am putting hairspray on my face but that being said it does keep my make-up perfect so I can’t complain.”

The spray also comes with some glowing reviews, saying: “Very fine holds makeup well and has a lovely scent,” and “Performs just like a high end setting spray and has such an amazingly fine spray mist!!! HIGHLY recommend. I usually mix it with the coconut dewy setting mist from Elf and boom, glowy and lasting makeup all day!”
The weather might be dictating our outfits at the moment, but we draw a line at it taking charge of our makeup too!
