Surprised to hear Buck Mason makes wallets? We were too, but then we checked out the Countryman in hand and found it to be a timeless brown leather bifold worthy of high praise. For $100, you get a burnished full leather cowhide material and convenient features like half-moon thumb cutouts for easy grabbing. The smooth, semi-vegetable-tanned material was inspired by vintage hotel key fobs, so it’s no surprise that it feels both modern and classic.
There is one feature we noticed in hand that will split opinions on the wallet: the flexible nature of the leather. Buck Mason cut this wallet out of a fine piece of leather, but the leather is thin and contains no added padding. We see the flexibility as a positive, though, due to the fact the wallet can fit easier into our denim. In fact, the Countryman fits super comfortable in the back pocket of our jeans.
At $100, the Countryman is one of our pricier picks, but the beautiful aesthetic works with almost any personal style and the leather is high quality. The wallet is premium enough to be gift-worthy, yet not stratospherically expensive like some of the best high-end designer men’s wallets on the market.
Look here if prefer a fine leather piece that will age gracefully and provide excellent storage.

Thin design makes it strict on storage limits
There’s almost no wallet as timeless as a black bifold. This classic piece from Leatherology provides exceptional quality for a value-driven price. The leather is soft to the touch, with the perfect amount of texture to prevent that gross slippery feeling cheap leather wallets usually have. Inside are six card slots and two interior pockets, allowing for storage up to eight cards with ease. There’s also a single bill compartment (lined with smooth fabric, no less).
Leatherology went smart and instilled a wallet dimension depth of no bigger than half and inch. We love this detail because bifolds are usually designed way too thick to accomodate endless amounts of storage. The ability to add personalization to the wallet with initials is an incredibly cool feature. Personalization only costs $15; you can choose to add text to the front right corner of the wallet or to the interior bottom right corner.
You can opt to upgrade your leather type on the Thin Bifold Wallet too, but for $30 more. We found the $70 black leather works well enough though. We’d only recommend going up in leather quality if you want to upgrade to a more deeply textured Italian leather (as opposed to smooth leather).
If you are looking for a simple wallet pick that’s going to stand the test of time in both style and in construction, then this is your pick.
