It seems like the capital was wearing running shoes Sunday.

Thousands upon thousand of runners of all shapes and sizes enjoyed the warm weather to take part in the Canada Army Run, which supports the Support Our Troops and Soldier On funds.

Soldiers in battle gear and kids of all sizes were all part of the fun.

It was a delightful day for exercise, with the temperature hanging around 22 C, with mild breezes and occasional clouds.

Meanwhile, dedicated runners showed up for another major run Sunday, the annual Terry Fox run, which raised about $157,000 in donations.

There were other Terry Fox runs in Orléans, Kanata and Manotick/Greely. The events combined for donations reaching more than $50,000.

It has been 43 years since Terry Fox began his cross-country Marathon of Hope in St. John’s, Nfld.
