Suzie Wells, mum to former TOWIE stars Sam Faiers and Billie Shepherd, has opened up on the effects menopause has had on her love life.
As a result of the menopause, the 54 year old, gained weight, experienced panic attacks and felt incredibly low, and, inevitably, it impacted her search for love.
Speaking exclusively to OK!, Suzie said: “I do seriously need to get my act together but the menopause has been a bit of a struggle for me over the last couple of years.
“I’m trying to get myself balanced and right before I get a man in my life.”
She’s tried nearly every treatment under the sun, but has now adopted a more holistic approach, including supplements from her daughter Sam’s collagen brand, Revive.

“I’ve tried quite a lot of different things, gels, patches, sprays, but now I take Samantha’s Revive Menopause Max, which has been really good in helping with my sleep a lot more because I’ve had really bad sleep deprivation.
“Obviously sleep deprivation is something anyone can get, but it is really much more apparent when you’re in the menopause.
“I’ve struggled with anxiety, which I didn’t have before and the brain fog – you’ll be mid conversation, then you forget what you’re talking about.”
She’s not currently taking any prescribed drugs for her menopause symptoms, but instead focuses on maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Suzie, who is also a devoted nanny to her six grandchildren, said: “I just take some supplements from Holland & Barratt, focus on healthy eating – oily fish and nuts are really good for you, as well as lots of greens.”

In an attempt to boost Suzie’s self-esteem following her struggles with the menopause, earlier this year, daughter Billie, 33, treated her mother to a burlesque photoshoot, and the pictures were nothing short of fabulous.
Suzie admitted it gave her a real confidence boost. She said: “I got all glammed up and I thought, ‘I don’t look so bad’. It felt quite empowering. Your life’s not over at 50 – some people say your life is only beginning.”
“You’ve got to get out there and not do what I’ve done for so many years!”
Suzie’s decision to share her menopause journey has sparked a huge wave of gratitude from women who can relate to her story.
“Since I’ve spoken about it, I’ve met so many like other women who’ve messaged me saying, ‘thank you, can you keep talking about it,’ because they feel like they’re going mad. Sometimes I feel like that too.
“With the menopause, it’s tough, but it’s great that everyone is talking about it now, which I love because, up until recently, it wasn’t really spoken about.

“Women didn’t like talking about it because they felt like they weren’t a complete woman if they were in the menopause.”
Going through the menopause herself has given The Mummy Diaries star a better understanding of her own mother’s behaviour.
“My mum and my grandmother never spoke about it. I remember my mom being in her fifties and one minute she was up, the next she was low.
“When you’re younger, you sort of don’t take much notice of it. You just think: ‘Oh, Mum’s having an off day’, but now I’m older, I know what was going on.”
“It’s great that people like Davina McCall out there just talking about it all the time.”
