Here’s some exciting alternatives to the quintessential Tiffany Blue dial finish, from the world’s top watch brands

Two years ago, Patek Philippe launched the Tiffany Blue Patek Philippe 5711 to celebrate its 170 years partnership with American luxury retailer, Tiffany & Company. The much talked about watch set off a furore around the world, because fans of Patek Nautilus 5711 — who were anguished by the brand’s sudden decision to discontinue the hugely popular watch the previous year — were presented with one last chance to buy a piece, albeit in a limited edition of just 170 pieces.

The Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711/1A-018 “Tiffany & Co.”

Priced at $52,000, the whole lot sold out in minutes. One last piece which the company auctioned for its charity, sold for $6.5 million. The watch also seems done something that neither Patek Philippe nor Tiffany would have expected: a new public fascination for the Tiffany blue dial. Variously termed as turquoise blue, maritime blue and sky blue by other brands, the colour is part of the collection of many watch marques. While it would be difficult to lay your hands on a Tiffany Patek, here are some others you can buy across various price ranges:

Rolex Oyster Perpetual 41mm & 36 mm

Both these Oyster Perpetuals come in Oyster steel cases and bracelets and are driven by the Rolex Manufacture Calibre 3230 with a power reserve of 70 hours, with centre hour, minute second hands and a stop-seconds function for precise time setting.

Chopard Alpine Eagle

Chopard calls the dial of this Alpine Eagle ‘maritime blue’. It comes in a 41 mm stainless steel case and is powered by Chopard 01.01-C self-winding movement, with approximately 60 hours of power reserve.

Breitling Superocean Chronometer

This 36 mm watch comes in a silver-tone stainless steel case, with the bracelet and unidirectional rotating bezel in the same metal. The minute markers are around the outer rim. This watch is powered by Breitling’s Calibre 17 Automatic movement with a power reserve of 42 hours and is water resistant to 300 metres.

Hublot Big Bang Unico Summer

This 42 mm Big Bang chronograph comes in a turquoise composite case, bezel, and canvas strap. The transparent dial features turquoise hands with minute markers around the outer rim. The date dial sits at 3 o’clock with two chronograph sub-dials. The Unico Summer is powered by the Hublot Calibre HUB1280 Automatic movement with a power reserve of 72 hours.

Bell & Ross BR-X5 IC Blue Steel

This square watch with round edges is 41 mm watch in width and 12.80 mm thick with a satin finished, polished steel case. The flange features a 60-minute scale with white marking. The date window is at 3 o’clock and power reserve indicator at 9 o’clock. This timepiece is powered by a BR-CAL.323 automatic mechanical movement with a power reserve of 70 hours.

Oris Divers Sixty-Five

This 38 mm diver’s watch features a bronze Case, bracelet, and rotating bronze bezel, with the blue dial showcasing bronze hands, index hour markers and a date display at the 6 o’clock position. The Divers Sixty-Five is powered by the Oris Calibre 733 Base SW 200-1 automatic movement, with a power reserve of 38 hours. Water resistant to 100 metres.

Tissot PRX Powermatic 80

This cult watch of 2023 comes in a tonneau shape steel case with a 40 mm diameter dial. The ice blue dial features Silvertone hands, index hour markers, and minute markers on the outer rim. The date display is at 3 o’clock position. Its Powermatic 80.111 automatic movement has a power reserve of 80 hours.
