If you’re after a confidence boost, the best foundations can do wonders. But with so many options out there, it’s hard to know which ones are worth splashing your cash on. Well, I’ve just found a new favourite that I reckon is worth every penny.
Scandinavian skin and makeup brand Lumene has just dropped its Invisible Illumination Vegan Collagen Serum Foundation, £39.90. This lightweight base is packed with skincare ingredients and SPF 30, promising healthy, hydrated, glowing skin, reports the Mirror.
It comes in 10 versatile shades and you can snap it up from retailers like LookFantastic, Sephora and John Lewis.

We’ve seen a surge of these ‘serum’ foundations recently formulas loaded with skincare ingredients that claim to apply and feel like a serum on the skin. These include MAC Studio Radiance Serum Powered Foundation, £39, and Estée Lauder Futurist SkinTint Serum Foundation, £49.
I’ve given these a go and they’re all decent, but none have really wowed me. But Lumene’s Serum Foundation is a game changer.
First off, it’s a breeze to apply. I prefer to use a dense-bristled makeup brush like IT Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe Complexion Perfection Brush, £30.40, but it also works well with a makeup sponge or even your fingers. It blends flawlessly into the skin without any patchiness or tell-tale lines.

I’m totally smitten with the radiant glow it gives the skin; it’s healthy and luminous without being sticky or glittery, and gives you an almost post-facial glow. The coverage is light-to-medium and super buildable, plus it feels incredibly hydrating and plumping on the skin (no doubt due to the hyaluronic acid and collagen in the mix, along with other plumping ingredients). This feeling lasts all day without drying out.
Despite there only being 10 shades available, they’re all quite sheer and adaptable, making it difficult to go wrong with your shade selection. Shade 2 is my perfect match, but I could also pull off shade 1.5 or even 0.5, depending on my skin’s condition. However, I do recognise that there could be more options for those with deeper skin tones.

If you’re on the hunt for a medium-to-full coverage foundation or one that can withstand sweat and doesn’t transfer, this might not be your cup of tea (instead, give Charlotte Tilbury Charlotte’s Beautiful Skin Foundation, £39, a whirl, which offers a similar glow but with more robust coverage). But this new Lumene foundation has been my go-to every day since I got my hands on it and I’m completely hooked.
