Three suspects charged in Aug. 1 Senegal embassy protest, 10 more sought

Ottawa police say three suspects have been charged in connection with an Aug. 1 protest at the Embassy of Senegal on Kent Street that resulted in accusations of assault, forcible entry, mischief and conspiracy.

Ten more suspects are still being sought in connection with the noon-hour incident.

The identified suspects included two people from Ottawa and one from St. Eustache, Que., a Montreal suburb.

They are each charged with forcible confinement, assault, mischief over $5,000, mischief obstruct property and cause disturbance.

Police originally issued a request to identify 15 people in the protest, but a couple of them were later determined not to have participated in the offences.

The Ottawa Police Service investigation continues and police are seeking public assistance to identify the 10 remaining subjects.

Anyone who was involved in the protest or witnessed the incidents was asked to call detectives at 613-236-1222, ext. 5166.
