Two people died and a driver was arrested in Gatineau after a fiery crash early Sunday in the city’s Buckingham sector.
The crash occurred at about 3 a.m. when a vehicle left the road near the intersection of Buckingham Avenue and Maclaren Avenue.

The vehicle crashed into a number of hydro poles and caught fire.
Police arriving on the scene confirmed that two passengers had died.
After interviewing witnesses, police arrested the driver of the crashed vehicle.
Police have not released any identities or charges against the driver.
Buckingham Avenue remains closed between Lamennais and Joseph streets, while Maclaren is closed between Charles and Georges streets.
